Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Trombone)
The University of South Alabama Department of Music invites applications for a one-year-only, full-time (nine-month), Assistant Professor of Music, starting August 15, 2024.
Qualifications: Earned terminal degree required in trombone performance or equivalent field. ABDs near the completion of their degree program will be considered. Candidates should show potential to successfully teach applied trombone at the collegiate level and have significant performance experience. Candidates should maintain an active schedule of performance and activity in relation to the trombone.
Responsibilities: Instruct the University of South Alabama trombone studio (undergraduate majors and minors and graduate students), including studio classes, trombone ensembles, and other aspects of studio instruction. Perform in the faculty brass chamber ensemble. Recruit talented students on trombone at the undergraduate and graduate levels to help staff all Department of Music ensembles and the USA Jaguar Marching Band. Contribution to the scholarly advancement of the field through research and/or creative activities is encouraged.
