
Dr. Mickey B. Smith
Mickey B. Smith, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management. Dr. Smith has taught at the University of South Alabama since 2016. Dr. Smith’s expertise is in strategically leading and developing the people-side of organizations. He has been recognized for excellence in teaching and research, and he is currently a 2026 Rechter Fellow with the Center for Positive Leadership (University of Louisville). Dr. Smith teaches courses in human resource management and organizational behavior, and his research interests are focused in personality, organizational climate, and the developing implications of AI for employee and team performance. Dr. Smith’s research has appeared in various top-tier management and applied psychology journals, such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Journal of Management, and the Journal of Organizational Behavior. Dr. Smith is an active member of the Academy of Management, Southern Management Association, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He current serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Organizational Behavior and Journal of Vocational Behavior.
