Field Agencies

Central Midtown is a compassionate community hub in Mobile, Alabama, located in a historic church building and home to more than 50 artists, nonprofits, and start-ups. We believe in the power of art and social justice, the strength of both individuals and community, and the importance of imagining new futures where every person’s humanity, gifts, and needs are valued.

As an intern, you will:

    • Explore therapeutic and justice-focused approaches in a deeply relational and inclusive environment.
    • Work closely with community leaders to support growth and health across multiple programs.
    • Receive supervision from a licensed therapist who operates a therapy practice onsite.

This is a unique opportunity for social work students to develop macro, mezzo, and micro practice skills within a collaborative that centers equity and social justice.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with:

    • Mobile County’s largest food pantry
    • An emergency and transitional housing program for unhoused families
    • A veteran’s resource center
    • A community garden
    • The largest gathering of artists, therapists, and entrepreneurs in the county—all committed to engaging social issues and building a more connected community.

If you’re a South Alabama social work student seeking an internship that blends clinical, community, and advocacy practice, we’d love to hear from you!
