Dr. David Meola wins J. William Fulbright US Scholar Award
Dr. David Meola, Director of the Jewish & Holocaust Studies program and the Bert & Fanny Meisler Assistant Professor of History and Jewish Studies, was awarded a J. William Fulbright US Scholar grant to conduct research in Germany during the summers of 2020 and 2021.
Dr. Meola will be researching Jews in the German states who participated in the Liberal and Democratic movements of the 1840s. He will be conducting his research while being a Fellow in the Modern Jewish Studies research group of the Lichtenberg-Kolleg at the University of Goettingen.

South Professors win $468,000 Federal Grant
Three professors associated with the Jewish & Holocaust Studies program at the University of South Alabama have won a $468,000 U.S. Department of Education International Studies and Foreign Language Program grant. The grant will help develop programs in global health, building a minor in Mandarin, expanding offerings in Russian, and providing funds to do outreach at community colleges and high schools.
